Japanese Film Week 2020 at 36th Sarajevo Winter Festival

The Embassy of Japan cordially welcomes you to the Japanese Film Week 2020, organized as a part of the 36th installment of the Sarajevo Winter Festival (Sarajevska zima), airing from 20:00 h from 6 to 9 March at the cinema Meeting Point (Hamdije Kreševljakovića 13, Sarajevo).
This year’s theme for the Film Week is VARIETY – the goal is to represent many genres of contemporary Japanese film, and express the SWF’s theme of Time for YOU – Pick Up ART, as the Week has something for everyone, and we hope you ‘pick up’ the ‘time for you’ to enjoy some of the ‘art’ of this year.
Entrance is free of charge.

1 SURVIVAL FAMILY

In this drama, a family scrambles about in an effort to survive a world without any electrical power. Waterboys director Yaguchi Shinobu writes and directs this film from his own original concept.
The Suzukis are an ordinary family of four living in Tokyo. One morning, they wake to find all their electrical devices are not working. Then they learn the water and gas lines in their neighbors’ homes are also shut off. The father, Yoshiyuki (Kohinata Fumiyo), takes his family with him out of Tokyo in an attempt to escape the crisis.
2 Time of EVE – The Movie

Originally a six episode online sci-fi animation, now re-edited and brought to the big screen with all-new additional scenes. By depicting the bond between a human and an android, the film also explores the issue of respect for the dignity of others. Creator of the on-line version, Yoshiura Yasuhiro has gone on to create, script, and direct this feature version as well. Yoshiura first gained recognition for his self-made animation Pale Cocoon. The story is set in the near future where androids are considered home appliances. High school student Rikuo (voice: Fukuyama Jun) discovers some odd behavioral data in his family's household android Sammy (voice: Tanaka Rie), and is lead to a cafe named “Time of Eve.”

Paranormal horror film starring popular idol Maeda Atsuko and Narimiya Hiroki, directed by Nakata Hideo of Ring. Deftly brings out the madness and isolation that lurk in everyday life. Screened around the world, including the 42nd International Film Festival Rotterdam. Film commemorating Nikkatsu's centennial.
The Kuroyuri apartment complex is besieged by mysterious deaths. Asuka (Maeda) unwittingly moves in, but from the first night she is troubled by strange noises coming from next door. After an elderly man's corpse is found in the adjacent apartment, Asuka becomes engulfed by a series of unfathomable events.

Tale of success for seniors, based on a true story. Three elderly women who are friends from childhood in a depopulated and greying mountainous area in Tokushima Prefecture start up a food garnish business. Interweaves profound human drama, including conflicts with family members, in the stories of hardship as they embark on their new enterprise.
Eda (Hiraoka Yuta), who works for the local agricultural cooperative in a small town in Tokushima Prefecture, hatches the idea of selling roadside leaves and plants as garnish. However, the only person who supported his idea was Hanae (Fuji Sumiko), widow at a sundry goods shop.
